Our Practice

A space to explore,
heal, and grow

At Tawfiq Therapy, our aim is not simply to help you cope — it is to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself. Over time, this self-awareness can bring greater emotional balance, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of inner calm.

We specialise in counselling that is culturally and religiously sensitive, while remaining open and respectful to individuals of all backgrounds. Our therapists work with anxiety, anger, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and identity-related concerns.

We believe one of the most important relationships we can work on is the one we have with ourselves — and that meaningful change often begins there.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

What happens in the first session?
+
The first session is an initial assessment — a chance for us to hear about what you're going through, for you to ask questions, and to explore whether working together feels right. There's no pressure or obligation to continue after this.
How many sessions will I need?
+
This varies from person to person. We offer short-term work (typically 6–12 sessions) focused on specific goals, as well as longer-term, open-ended therapy for deeper exploration. We'll discuss what might suit you best after the initial assessment.
Is everything I say kept confidential?
+
Yes. Confidentiality is central to the therapeutic relationship. What you share in sessions is kept strictly private, with very limited exceptions — such as if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. This will always be discussed with you openly.
Do I need to be Muslim to work with you?
+
Not at all. While we specialise in culturally and religiously sensitive counselling for Muslims, we warmly welcome clients of any background, faith, or none. Our practice is open and non-judgemental to all.
Can I access therapy online?
+
Yes. We offer online therapy via video call and telephone therapy across the UK, as well as face-to-face sessions in East London. Many clients find online therapy just as effective and far more convenient.
What does BACP accreditation mean?
+
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is the leading professional body for therapists in the UK. BACP membership means our therapists meet rigorous ethical and professional standards, giving you confidence in the quality of care you receive.
